YOUR VINYL INSTALLATION GETTING READY FOR US: Make sure you move all items in the area where we are going to be working that may get broken or dusty. This includes pictures and other wall hangings as well as items on counter tops such as small appliances and food. If any plumbing work is required, make sure disconnection's are completed before we arrive. YOUR SUBFLOOR: Underlayment may or may not be required on your job. Your estimator can make a recommendation for you. Some vinyl is designed and approved to be installed over existing sheet vinyl floors. Your estimator can help you with your final determination. Peaks and valleys in your existing subfloor will probably remain after your vinyl installation unless otherwise stated on your proposal. Guy's Floor Service is not licensed to make structural repairs to your sub-floor. Any hump or valley will remain there after your new floor is installed. BASEBOARDS: It is a good idea for baseboards to cover the edge of your new vinyl and in some cases is required. Guy's can perform this for you in one of the following manners. Remove and reinstall existing (no guarantee) Install new base-pine or oak Install new shoe-pine or oak New rubber base The customer is responsible for painting or paint touch up unless otherwise noted on your proposal. Is you wish for us to do your base work, make sure it is listed on your proposal. BUBBLES: It is not uncommon for bubbles to appear after your vinyl installation. Some vinyl is designed to shrink tight over time which can take as long as a couple of weeks. If bubbles are still visible after 3 weeks, please call us. APPLIANCES: Guy's Floor Service will move appliances if noted on your proposal. Make sure waterlines are disconnected as necessary. When moving these appliances in the future (to clean etc.) do not slide the appliances directly on your sheet vinyl floor. Use a piece of 1/4" plywood or Masonite. WARRANTY: Make sure you pick up care and warranty information before you purchase your vinyl. This information has important 800 numbers as well as cleaning and care information. Please keep this information in a safe place for future reference. TOUCH UPS: Guy's has a reputation for taking extreme care of the surrounding walls, wall coverings and trim. However, damage is sometimes unavoidable so please be prepared to touch up paint, wall coverings or trim after your vinyl installation. TRANSITIONS TO OTHER FLOORING PRODUCTS: If resecuring carpet is listed (tack and tuck) on your proposal, please keep in mind that we don't usually use metal but it may be required in some circumstances. Also keep in mind that carpet can get old and brittle, hence we can not guarantee the final product will be perfect. Transitions to other products (i.e. wood floors, sheet vinyl etc.) should be handled with your estimator and have listed on your proposal if you have a preference. DOORS: When adding to the elevation of your existing floor with vinyl and or underlayment, trimming doors may be necessary. In some cases you will not know if this is necessary until the vinyl installation is complete. Guy's Floor Service can recommend someone to trim these doors at a nominal fee. HARMFUL SUBSTANCES: Sheet vinyl over 10 years old may contain asbestos. Guy's Floor Service asks that you have any suspected substance detected, tested and abated by an asbestos removal company. Guy's Floor Service will not be responsible for disturbing undetected hazardous material. If you have a question about a specific item, your estimator will be of help to you. |
